Elsa from "Frozen" - 2013

Done tonight - this is Elsa from Disney's "Frozen" - such a good film! Probably going to put her through Photoshop at some point.

Loki Lineart (2013)

Here is the lineart for Loki; all finished! I am so excited to get this one colored in CS6!

Loki (2013)

So I saw "Thor: The Dark World" tonight! It was amazing - I came home and immediately sat down and drew Loki. His mouth proved to be a bit of a nuisance to get right . . . But hopefully once I put him through Photoshop he'll look a bit better. Cheers!

Liara's Forest Home (C) 2013

Completed today! This is Liara's forest home; something I've wanted to draw for a long time - and finally finished it! I am very happy with it, considering it's the first landscape piece I've done in a while. The file i huge, so the resolution of the picture in smaller size might look slightly distorted -- sorry!

Cicero - Skyrim (2013)

My apologies for not updating sooner! Here is Cicero, finally finished! I completed him about a month ago, but did not get around to posting him anywhere until now. "Darkness rises when Silence dies."

Liara (another sketch) 2013

Another sketch of "Liara Fahaelion"! I did this earlier in the week while in class, and am very happy with how her face turned out (though her lips may be a little big). Either way, I plan on processing this one through Photoshop as well, and am very excited to get started!

Tree of Life (2013)

This is my first drawing I did for my visual arts course at UBCO. I am very, very happy with how it turned out. I used charcoal and ink to create this one, while using a few reference images as well. I am very proud of this "Tree of Life", and it was very well received in class.

03/09/2013

Dear faithful watchers,

Hello! This is the first text blog I have posted since creating this "site". I am writing to inform you all that I will be starting up again at university to attend my third year tomorrow morning, and will be unable to post as much work as I would like during that time (not that I have been very diligent thus far as it is).

That being said, I will be beginning the process of creating my portfolio this coming year, as to be able to apply to various video game industries for the position of a concept artist. I hope to provide a plethora of works before the school year is out, and be able to apply at that time as well.

Thank you!

Kate
Liara Fahaelion - Finished (2013)

Here is Liara Fahaelion - completely finished! I am so proud of how her face turned out, though I may fix up the shading on her chest area in the future. I do also want to perhaps add armor or clothing in the future as well, but that might be another drawing entirely of her.

Next up: Cicero from Skyrim!

Fires of the Past (2013)

It is finally done! This is the piece I submitted earlier in May, and tonight I finally finished it. I am so proud of how this one came out, and I can't wait to do more pieces like this. This is a very symbolic piece. My house burned down nearly ten years ago, and this summer with mark the tenth year - this is an almost tribute to that life changing event.

Liara Fahaelion (2013)

I drew this piece last night. This is Liara Fahaelion, and I created her about seven years ago, but never got around to drawing a real picture of her. I am very proud of how this turned out.

Cicero - Skyrim (2013)

This is a piece of fanart I drew tonight of a character named "Cicero" from Bethesda Softworks' "TES V: Skyrim". Again, very pleased with how it came out; those facial lines were brutal!

Raziel (2013)

This is a sketch I made of a character created by my boyfriend. He gave me a few reference pictures taken from the popular side-step fighting game Soul Calibur V, as well as a few written descriptions, and asked me to draw his character, Raziel, for him. I happily obliged, and this is what came of it all. I used a few reference images from Bethesda's Fallout New Vegas, in addition to the screen shots I was given.

I have my own character that I created years ago as well, named Liara (not to be confused with Mass Effect's Liara T'soni - I came up with the name two years before Mass Effect was released). I plan to do several sketches and a few completed drawings of her in the hopefully near future.

Fire (2013)

This is my newest work - still incomplete. I will post the finished copy when it is done, but now I wanted to post the "in progress" piece. I am very happy with how this is coming along so far - the lighting turned out better than I expected.

Cataclysmic Bedroom (2012)

I made this for my first project in my second year Digital Media class at UBCO. We were to make a surreal landscape, so I took a photo of my bedroom, and added the sky during a forest fire, dragons from the popular MMORPG World of Warcraft, and the lake in the center of the valley where I live.

 Blue Shell (2010)

I made this piece back in 2010 for my first project in my grade 12 year Fine Arts class. To date this is perhaps my favorite piece I have ever made in pencil crayons. I used a reference image of the back of Rihanna's head to get the head shape properly, and a shell for the hair. I am very proud of the lighting in this work.

Audrey Hepburn Charcoal

This piece was created for my first year drawing class at UBCO back in 2012. It is made entirely out of charcoal, and an image of Hepburn was used as reference.

Charcoal Series (2012)

A series of three charcoal pieces I made for my second year university drawing class. I decided to focus primarily on the human figure, as that is one of my strong points. I also enjoy landscapes that are simple and barren, hence the lone figure in the center, coupled with the dead tree.

Angel (2011)

This was the first drawing I ever made on Photoshop back when I was in my last year of high school. It was meant to represent contrast, hence the fair hair and dark wings. Considering this was the first time I ever used Photoshop, I was very pleased with the results!
